Once the idea of the campaign has been determined and you are ready to set up the files for your creative, it is important to realise that at this stage you are determining the level of quality that can be expected from the final product.

What you need to know when preparing artwork

» Work in Apple Macintosh format
» Work in CMYK format. Please realise that we can only match to the ---process equivalent of Pantone colours.
» Convert all fonts to outlines
» Include all relevant files
» Set up your files in the correct proportion. We recommend using -----Quark Express for all layouts.
» Indicate clearly if there is an extension
» Scan from the best possible artwork
» Convert all blacks to a four colour combination of 60% Cyan, 40% » Magenta, 5% Yellow and 100% Black
» Allow 75mm of bleed around the entire board

Scanning
For billboards all images that are under 20 square metres should be scanned at 1/10th of final size at 350DPI in CMYK format. For images that cover more than 20 square metres the scan should be produced at 1/20th of final size at 360 DPI in CMYK format.

If you are scanning for our high resolution printer you need to scan all images at 25% of final size in CMYK format. If you are not sure how to scan your images please phone (02) 9748 8733 and ask to speak to the prepress manager.

Acceptable Programs
We accept files in Macintosh Quark Express 6.1, Adobe Illustrator CS, Adobe Photoshop CS, Macromedia Freehand 9.0 & Adobe Indesign CS

Acceptable Media
We accept 3 ½' floppies, 100 and 250 Megabyte Zips, Jaz 1 and 2 Cartridges, CD's and DVD's. Small files can be e-mailed directly to prepress@cactusimaging.com.au
